An environmental post

Apparently the EU is considering a new form of energy crop – giant grasses. Sounds great to me, and they look pretty too. One hectare would produce at least the energy equivalent of 36 barrels of crude oil – possibly much more than that. And so presumably the crop would be worth a lot of money, so it’d mean fewer subsidies to farmers were required, meaning the EU can reform its budget properly – that’d make a lot of people happy.

At the same time the BBC reports (in a different article) that North Yorkshire is considering making all their council vehicles run on bio-diesel. Yay! Now we just need normal petrol stations to start providing bio-diesel alongside petrol, and we could lower car emissions in no time.

I’m exhausted, I’ve done loads of cleaning and washing today, and made rum truffles, and I still have to hoover the living room as homegroup is here tonight.
