First word!

on October 27, 2006

Froglet has learned his first “real” word – not counting “nengneng” which means drink.

I got him up from his nap yesterday and he wanted to know why the oven was on so I told him I was making cake and he looked at my mouth carefully while I said it and then said “Cack”. (Yeah, yeah). And I know it’s a real word because
a) he knows what it means and where the cake is and
b) he repeats it when I ask him to, which he has never previously done with words that sounded like they might be intentional.
And he pronounces it better now too. 🙂

He also tried to say pumpkin (pa-ka) and to pronounce our friend Greg’s name (Guh), but those words haven’t stayed in his vocab so they don’t count. And today he called me Daddy (not dada like he usually does). A bit lacking on the gender-observation front, but otherwise good!

*gush*my baby is so clever*gush*

Should I have put all this behind a cut… well to keep the rest brief, today he had his MMR jab, he seems fine but apparently the reaction (if any) can take 5 days to occur. He’s average for height but low for weight, but the doctor says it’s probably cos he started walking earlier than average. Also the Engineer and I are both slightly low weight for our heights (not underweight though) so it could be genetic.

I’d say more but it’s bedtime. I am reading all your posts, just don’t always get round to commenting.
