Marvellous Muffin Tin Monday!

on June 22, 2009
Today’s theme is copycat. I was going to have the car today and go shopping for supplies but unfortunately we slept through the alarm and didn’t wake up until Nutmeg wanted feeding about ten minutes before the Engineer was due at work. So I didn’t get the car till later. So I couldn’t do the copycat I wanted to originally… but never mind, I found something just as good!

It’s Monkey Bites (by Michelle of HCO). Froglet has been reading one of those counting-down books called Five Cheeky Monkeys, so it fit in nicely. I adapted it slightly to reflect what was in our cupboards.

Clockwise from left: honey-peanuts, ground almonds, blueberry yoghurt, chocolate chips, coconut. Maple syrup in the centre. Banana pieces for dipping.

This went down a storm with adults and child! The Engineer even suggested we could do it regularly as an after-work snack. We decided that banana with maple syrup and coconut was the best, although the Engineer did manage to get the choc chips to stick to his banana too! Froglet drank the leftover maple syrup at the end (he loves the stuff!), which I had not anticipated, but it was only a little bit and he still ate all his dinner so all in all it was a success and we will be doing it again.
